Enrolment & Attendance
Do I have to enroll via the school?
No. As a parent, you enrol individually for your child. It's both an individual player competition and a combined school competition. If other students enrol from the same school, their combined points go towards their school tally.
Late enrolment
Will not be accepted. Due to the immense administration tasks, planning, and grading needed before the tournament, enrolments cut off strictly on Friday at 5pm before the event, or even earlier if capacity is reached.
Can I play in any conference?
Yes. You can play in any and all conference locations. They are just different locations, times, and dates to make it convenient to travel.
Do I need to sign in before competition start?
No need to sign in or come to the front desk. All information is on our website, and has been emailed and SMS’d to you. Please read it. Any major issues or questions, please come to the front desk for help.
What is your refund policy?
A full refund or credit will be given if you cancel for any reason. Please inform us before the event if your child cannot attend.
Gameplay & Grading
How do you Grade students?
We grade students using 5 key factors:
  1. Previous results/state ranking.
  2. Year group at school (Years 1-12).
  3. Skill level (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced) as indicated by parents.
  4. School distribution (to ensure varied matchups).
  5. Active movement: Further grading/movement happens in the first 30 minutes of the tournament.
You can move up and down divisions anytime as instructed by the coach based on your ability on the day.
Can my child be placed with their friends?
We will try our best. However, we must grade kids based on past history, standard, school, and age as a priority. Pairing friends together can create an unfair advantage. We also conduct further grading during the first 30 minutes. Please respect our 26 years of judgment in creating fair game scenarios.
If I’m in Year 3, do I play with Year 6’s?
Yes. If you are good enough, you will move into higher age groups. Conversely, if a Year 10 student is struggling, they can move into lower age groups to ensure appropriate competition.
Referee / Umpires
Handball is self-refereed, like tennis, golf, and handball played at school. We teach children the Good Sport steps: 1. Discuss, 2. Vote, 3. Replay, and 4. Teacher. These steps teach children to fish, not give them a fish. These steps are challenging and take time to learn, but are important for developing these life long skills.
Scoring & Awards
How do you win?

Stay in King the longest. Every time you are in King and someone gets out, you get a peg point. In other words, after every rally you remain in King (the top court) you get a point.

Example: If Dunce gets Queen out and you're in Ace, you get a peg point. After 1 hour of play, you may have 46 peg points. This will go to your individual tally and school tally.

School Bonus Points
Court School Multiplier / Calculation
Court 11 peg point x 3 points (e.g., 42 peg points = 126 school points)
Court 21 peg point x 2.75 points
Court 31 peg point x 2.5 points

Court 51 peg point x 2 points
Court 61 peg point x 1.75 points
Court 71 peg point x 1.5 points
